2006 Trip to Afghanistan

In May 2006, Susan and Patti traveled to Afghanistan for a week to see firsthand how the programs we’ve donated to are functioning and especially to meet some of the women who have been participating in the programs. Before the trip, Susan explained:

“We want to experience Afghanistan with our own eyes and ears. For the past few years, we’ve been passionate about helping a group of women half a world away. We’d like to meet that group of women and make this all more real. Our primary goal is to make sure that we’re helping in the most positive way. We want to understand how we can have the greatest impact in supporting widows in becoming more economically independent and helping their families get educated. By observing the lives of the people we’re trying to help, we hope that will put us one step closer to understanding the challenges they face each day and their unique needs.”
